Target Fish
Horse mackerel, mebaru, and other light-game species
Feature
Fast-hooking design for ajing.
Ajibaku Jig Head was designed to convert the delicate bites of horse mackerel with certainty. Even on soft inhaling bites, the hook point penetrates quickly and turns short strikes into solid hook-ups.
The hook uses an outward-facing shape tuned for fast hooking. The eye is also angled about 20 degrees against the hook point, helping line tension transfer efficiently to the point the moment pressure comes on.
The barb uses a micro-barb design that prioritizes penetration. It goes in smoothly while still holding hooked fish securely.
The head uses a red color that offers strong appeal to horse mackerel. Its simple round shape is easy to control and works with straight retrieve, lift-and-fall, drift, and many other approaches.
Based on the Mebary Hayagake Jig Head, this model is tuned more specifically for ajing. While Mebary Hayagake covers a broader range of targets such as mebaru and rockfish, Ajibaku Jig Head is more directly focused on horse mackerel fishing.
It performs not only in ajing, but also in mebaru fishing and general light-game applications.
Upper Range / Small Horse Mackerel / Low Activity
Hook #8 / 0.2g~0.5g
In shallow spots such as harbor lights and inner harbors,
the lighter 0.2g to 0.5g models are the best fit.
Their slow fall naturally covers the upper to middle range
and responds well to small horse mackerel and low-activity bites.
Standard Weight Range
Hook #8 / 0.85g~1.3g
This is the standard weight range that sees the most use in harbors and on breakwaters.
It holds a stable middle range
and works with straight retrieve, drift, and many other ajing methods.
If you are unsure where to start, begin here.
Current / Deeper Range
Hook #8 / 1.65g
When current increases or the fish move deeper, 1.65g becomes effective.
It keeps the jig head in position more easily
and gives you better control with drift and tension-fall presentations.
Better-Size Horse Mackerel / Deep Range
Hook #6 / 1.0g~3.0g
The #6 hook models provide the strength needed for better-size horse mackerel.
They keep the range reliably even in deeper water or current
and are well suited to targeting larger fish or deeper zones.
Jighead / Hook Selection Guide
Choose your jighead or hook based on method and target species.
YARIE's light-game lineup gives each model a clear role based on the situation you want to target.
Fast Hookset
Fast Hooking / Short-Bite Response
Hooking-focused models built to convert light inhaling bites and short strikes.
Ajibaku Jig Head leans more heavily toward ajing,
while Mebary Hayagake is an easy-to-use fast-hooking option
for broader light-game fishing, including mebaru and rockfish.
Swimming
Swimming / Range Control
Models that prioritize swimming balance and holding the intended range.
Best when you want to keep the worm tracking steadily
with straight retrieves or drift-based presentations.
Ami Pattern
Ami Pattern
Dedicated models for situations where fish are feeding on tiny ami shrimp.
For fine adjustments to range and weight, including split-shot setups,
the Ajimeba Army Hook is the better choice.
Barbless
Efficiency / Catch and Release
The barbless design makes hook removal easy and supports a fast-paced rhythm.
Best for high-numbers fishing
and situations where catch and release matters.
Rockfish
Rockfish / Strength Focus
Strength-focused jig heads built around a heavier-wire hook.
Best for scorpionfish, grouper, and other rockfish,
or whenever you expect slightly larger fish.
They also suit situations where you want to fish deeper with a heavier weight.
Ajing Power
Power for Better-Size Horse Mackerel
Power models built for better-size horse mackerel and large mebaru.
They balance the strength needed for bigger fish
with the ability to respond to horse mackerel bites,
making them a strong fit for size-focused ajing and boat-contact styles.
Vertical
Vertical Contact
Dedicated models for vertical fishing from a boat.
Best when you need a reliable hook-up in deeper water or moving current.

YARIE hooks are designed on the foundation of hook-making technology from the Banshu region of Hyogo Prefecture, Japan's largest hook-production area. Banshu hooks stand at the center of Japan's long hook-making tradition and are known worldwide for their strength and sharp hook points.
Founded in 1925, YARIE is a tackle maker also known as the first company in Japan to manufacture metal swivels. That metalworking expertise and long experience in tackle development continue to shape YARIE's hook design today.
Under quality control in Japan, YARIE pursues sharp hook points and consistent strength. Rather than flashy looks, the focus is on dependable performance you can trust on the water.
