DIRK HOOK

DIRK Hook

HOOK / TROUT

Target Fish

Trout, char, amago, cherry salmon, and yamame

Feature

Hook securely in streams and keep fish pinned.

This model brings out the full appeal of a stream-minnow hook. Exceptional sharpness creates excellent penetration, while strong holding power helps keep hooked fish from coming free. The micro barb makes it harder for fish to shake loose and supports more secure landings.

Wide Range Control

3.0g

Choose the size according to the fish's activity level. When fish are spread across a broad depth range, the 3.0 g model is more suitable because its slide travels more vertically.

Wide Range Control

2.5g

Choose the size according to the fish's activity level. When fish are holding in a narrow depth band, the 2.5 g model is more suitable because its slide moves more horizontally.

YARIE Native Trout Hook Guide

Native Trout Hook Select Map

A guide for choosing hook shape, wire thickness, and barb size according to the spoons, minnows, and spinners used in streams and main rivers.

Spoon Hook Guide

For spoons, use Trout Hook Model 1 and GLAVE Hook as the base choices, selecting between them according to spoon size and target fish size.

Large to Standard Spoons

Trout Hook Model 1 is a sleeve-shaped hook designed for spoons. Compared with GLAVE Hook, it covers a wider size range and is suitable for fuller-bodied spoons and standard to slightly larger spoon sizes. The sleeve shape makes it easy to hook fish, while the mini barb helps compensate for its holding power.

Small to Medium Spoons

GLAVE Hook is also a spoon hook. Its micro barb is smaller, but the hook shape itself is designed to help reduce lost fish. It is suited to small and medium spoons, especially when you want stable holding after the hook-up.

Barb Selection

Between micro barb and mini barb, the mini barb is the larger barb. Trout Hook Model 1 uses a mini barb to support the holding power of its sleeve shape, while GLAVE Hook combines a smaller micro barb with a hook shape designed to keep fish pinned.

Minnow / Spinner Hook Guide

Vertical-Eye Minnows

DIRK Hook is a vertical-eye hook that pairs well with minnows using a vertical-eye setup. Its extra-fine wire design penetrates with light pressure, making it suitable for finesse fishing when you want to catch delicate bites.

Spinners

DIRK Hook is also recommended for spinners. The extra-fine wire is less likely to interfere with lure action, and it responds well to small stream bites and short bites.
